Who We Are

Carpathian Biodiversity Framework | Convention on Biological Diversity

The Parks Dinarides network is a coalition of 56 protected areas spanning several countries in the Dinaric region, including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Slovenia, and Serbia. This network, whose foundation was laid in Podgorica in 2014, unites not only protected areas but also individuals who are passionate about nature conservation and friends of the network since its inception.

Why and How This Initiative Was Created

The initiative for networking the Parks of the Dinarides was borne out of the "Dinaric Arc Parks" project, led by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The collaborative efforts were further reinforced by the Big Win II agreement signed in Budva, Montenegro, committing the signatory countries to a collective endeavour in enhancing conservation measures and emphasizing sustainable financing for these regions.

Steering Committee

The steering committee of the Parks Dinarides network includes dedicated environmental stewards who play pivotal roles in their respective countries, contributing to the regional conservation strategy and sustainable development within the Dinaric Alps.
